Sabbath Elul 25 Isaiah 61 to 63

Sabbath Elul 25 Isaiah 61 to 63

Elul 25. Sabbath Leil Selichot. Deut 29:9-31:30; Isa 61:10-63:9. Creation began. Mars and Mercury conjunction in Leo.
The Jews believe Creation began on this day so that Day 4 began on the Day of Trumpet or Day 6 was on the Day of Trumpet.

Isa 61:1  The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
to proclaim: The proclaiming of perfect liberty to the bound, and the year of acceptance with Jehovah, is a manifest allusion to the proclaiming of the year of the jubilee by sound of trumpet; and our Saviour, by applying this text to himself, plainly declares the typical design of that institution. Isa_42:7, Isa_49:9, Isa_49:24-25; Psa_102:20; Jer_34:8; Zec_9:11-12; Joh_8:32-36; Act_26:18; Rom_6:16-22, Rom_7:23-25; 2Ti_2:25-26

Isa 61:2  To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
Luk 4:18  The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Luk 4:19  To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Luke 4:18-21

Luk_4:18-19 quote Isa_61:1-2 but do not include the immediately following words, "... and the day of vengeance of our God." Although normally a citation of Scripture implies the surrounding context (Mat_2:6), here Yeshua may have stopped short so that he could say, Today, as you heard it read, this passage of the Tanakh (up to but not including the "day of vengeance") was fulfilled-as described at 7:20-23, Mat_11:2-6. For at his first coming he healed and brought Good News of the Kingdom and salvation (Mat_4:17); it was not his time to take vengeance or judge (Joh_8:15, Joh_12:47).
Luke 4:19

acceptable

A comparison with the passage quoted, (Isa_61:1); (Isa_61:2) affords an instance of the exquisite accuracy of Scripture. Jesus stopped at, "The acceptable year of the Lord," which is connected with the first advent and the dispensation of grace, (Gen_3:15);

(See Scofield) - (Act_1:11),

"the day of vengeance of our God" belongs to the second advent, (Deu_30:3).

(See Scofield) - (Act_1:11),

and judgment.

Isaiah 61:2

acceptable year of the Lord

Observe that Jesus suspended the reading of this passage in the synagogue at Nazareth (Luk_4:16-21) at the comma in the middle of (Isa_61:2). The first advent, therefore, opened the day of grace, "the acceptable year of Jehovah," but does not fulfil the day of vengeance. That will be taken up when Messiah returns (2Th_1:7-10).

Compare (Isa_34:8); (Isa_35:4-10).

The last verse (Isa_61:11), taken with the 4th (Isa_61:4), gives the historic connection: the vengeance precedes the regathering of Israel, and synchronizes with the day of the Lord. (Isa_2:10-22); (Rev_19:11-21); (Isa_63:1-6).

Isaiah 61:2

It celebrates the deliverance from the Babylonian captivity, the grand type of the redemption of the world by the Messiah. Deliverance means: librty, freedom, Jubilee in a year of Jubilee when the 120th Jubilee from Creation lines up with the 70th Jubilee (1401-1406 BCE) and lines up with the 40th Jubilee from Yeshua’s  death which is 2016/2017 declared by Israel as a year of Jubilee.

As watchmen on the wall, we are to warn of danger coming. We are to declare the upcoming of the Day of the Lord. We are to declare both the good and the bad that is to come upon the World.

Day of the Lord

Isa 63:1  Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
Isa 63:2  Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?
Isa 63:3  I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.
Isa 63:4  For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.
      Day = Year but Christians teach this is 7 years. Others teach this is 3.5 years so I will treat it literally as being a year’s time.
Isa 63:5  And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.
Isa 63:6  And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.
Isa 63:7  I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.
Isa 63:8  For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.
Isa 63:9  In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.
     According to Isaiah, the Day of the Lord will cover a year. This year covers the Trumpet (first 5 months)  and Bowl (last 7 months) Judgments of Revelation beginning on the Day of Atonement with a global earthquake (axial poleshift). It ends one year later with Marriage of the Groom and Bride and Armageddon on the Day of Atonement followed by 5 days of grace and then the Millennium in 2018 beginning on the first Annual Sabbath of Feast of Tabernacles (Psalm 118:15ff). Some teach the Day of the Lord is a reference to the Bowl Judgments between Day of Trumpet and Day of Atonement for the last 10 days.

Feast of Tabernacles/Millennium
Psa 118:24  This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day
1
This is the day, this is the day.
That the Lord has made, that the Lord has made.
We will rejoice, we will rejoice,
And be glad in it, and be glad in it.
This is the day that the Lord has made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day, this is the day
That the Lord has made.
2
We are the sons, we are the sons,
Of the living God, of the living God.
We will rejoice, we will rejoice,
And be glad in Him, and be glad in Him.
We are the sons of the living God.
We will rejoice and be glad in Him.
We are the sons, we are the sons
    Of the living God.
