Why Did Peter Refuse To Eat God-Given Food?

Peter once saw an enigmatic vision while praying: “The sky opened up, and an object like a great sheet coming down, lowered by four corners to the ground, and there were in it all kinds of four-footed animals and crawling creatures of the earth and birds of the air. A voice came to him, ‘Get up, Peter, kill and eat!’ But Peter said, ‘By no means, Lord, for I have never eaten anything unholy and unclean.’ Again, a voice came to him a second time, ‘What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy’” (Acts 10:11-15 NASB).

Peter refused to eat the animals in his vision, calling them κοινὸν καὶ ἀκάθαρτον (koinon kai akatharton) “unholy and unclean.” It is a common assumption that the apostle was offered only unclean animals forbidden to Israel (cf. Lev 11; Deut 14). In reality, the vision showed a variety of clean and unclean animals mixed together.

Most modern readers miss the meaning of this passage entirely because they do not fully grasp what these words meant to Peter in his cultural context. To many modern readers “unclean” simply means “dirty,” but for a first-century Jew, “unclean” (ἀκάθαρτος; akathartos) referred to “defilement” (טָמֵא; tameh) – a ceremonial worship-related temporary disqualification (e.g., Lev 5:2; 15:32).

The second term in the vision, translated as “unholy,” is κοινός (koinos), which can be even more confusing. It is an equivalent to the Hebrew חֹל (chol), meaning “common,” “ordinary,” or/therefore “unsanctified.” There is nothing “bad” or “sinful” in the term translated as “not/unholy.” In fact, the Greek word for “fellowship,” κοινωνία (koinonia), comes from the same linguistic root. In Jewish tradition, the intermediary days of a long festival like Passover are called חֹל הַמּוֹעֵד (chol hamoed) because they are “ordinary” days and not holy days of rest.

The heavenly voice in the vision insisted, “What God cleansed for you do not make common (κοινός; koinos)” (Acts 10:15). Peter refused to eat what he saw because the clean animals in the vision were mixed with unclean ones and thus became defiled. Many interpreters suppose that God cleansed all animals for Peter, but remember that there were two kinds of animals in the vision.

The Torah divides all animals into categories – “unclean” טָמֵא (tameh) and “clean” טָהֵר(tahor). The “unclean” animals are prohibited as food altogether and only clean animals can be classified as κοινός (koinos) / חֹל (chol) “common”, for ordinary everyday use. Only the meat of these clean animals, which is “common,” can become “holy” קָדוֹשׁ (kadosh) if it offered to God on the altar.

Both clean animals (and people) can become “defiled” and “unclean” temporarily. But they can also be purified and restored to their previous status. And that is exactly what the divine voice is telling Peter. God purified the clean animals, believers from the nations, in the vision for Peter. And they are not “common” but actually “holy” (קָדוֹשׁ; kadosh).

The timing of this dream may have been around the 15th day of the month according to Genesis Flood account.

John's dream. I was walking down a path one day in the merry, merry month May and came to an “T” intersection. To my right, I saw 2 characters dueling and they were dressed as duelers in a pageant. I turned left onto a gravel path and it curved left into a valley. At the end of the path was a home or building and there were many characters dressed up in costumes and weird faces (Alien faces). I stopped somewhere in the building and on the wall to my right was a picture. I was looking at a 3d picture that was 3 feet wide and 6-7 feet long and 3 to 4 inches thick. It had tiny aluminum pixels that moved back and forth creating different scenes. A computer controlled the animation. The scene was telling a train trip with many different backgrounds.

The first time I had the dream, I was afraid of the unknown. But this time, I understood the dream and it had become known and to not be afraid of what lies ahead of us on our journey's through life.

Peters dream was dealing with people being holy or not holy to talk to and witness to. My dream was dealing with people being clean our unclean but it was in the same context. Even though a homeless person is unclean or a person who has tattoos is unclean we still have to deal with the divine appointments God brings into our lives. Me, I totally disagree with people who have tattoos because they are filled with demons and it is an open door 24/7. Two ladies were walking in the front of my vehicle one day with tattoos. One lady had a cross on. My comment was either denounce Jesus as your Lord and Savior or get rid of the tattoos and repent. Because you do not want to go through the Day of the Lord which will be sometime this year .

Ray, my caregiver and I were dealing with an issue of judging a book by its cover. Then the dream came around. Two days later after the dream Ray and Azelia and I went into a restaurant and in came a man with tattoos, hating others, and angry and impatient. I handed him some copies of articles I hand out that I use s witnessing tools since I have a communication disorder. I don't like small talk to people so I deal with facts when talking to people.

Do you really think that Day of the Lord is unrelated to these two dreams?

The Day of Trumpet second advent is Oct 10, 2018 and Day of Atonement marriage of the Groom and brides and Armageddon is on Oct 20th, 2018 (Psalms 118:10-13). Psalms 118:15 has the word Tabernacles in it and is the Feast of Tabernacle (Millennium). Psalms 119 is all about the Laws of God in the Millennium. Peter and the Sheet is a part of the prophecy timeline in the Flood account.

Rabbinic Day of Trumpet, 2018 dealt with Matt 12 (Sign of Jonas) because on this year's Biblical Calendar (April 16, 2018) the year is one month behind the Rabbinic Calendar (March 18, 2018).

Sept 24th Feast of Tabernacles Rabbinic Calendar day is dealing with Matt 25 date setting verse of sheep go to the right and goats go to the left. The Revelation of the Moon at 10:30 PM on a clear night dealt with the Man in the Moon with 7 (completion) faint lined clouds under the Moon going up and down like fingers and then an angel shape moving away from the moon on the right side of the moon from God's perspective. The Sun is in Virgo and is on the right side of the 180 degree line which signals the autumn equinox has begun. Jupiter in the Holy Altar of Libra is on the right side of its line between the upper most star and the lowest most star. The Moon is in Aquarius and is on the right side of the legs so IE sheep go to the right and goats go to the left. We have the highest possibility of the rapture today on Sept 24^th.

Will it happen today or will it happen on Oct 10. Time will tell. We just wait and see.
