The
Meaning of Numbers: The Number 11
The
number eleven is important in that it can symbolize disorder, chaos
and judgment. In the Bible, 11 is used twenty-four times and "11th"
can be found 19 times.
Coming
after 10 (which represents law and responsibility), the number eleven
(11) represents the opposite, which is the irresponsibility of
breaking the Law, which brings disorder and judgment. In Genesis 11,
men rebelled against God and built the tower of Babel. He judged them
by confusing their language, resulting in chaos.
How
does the number eleven relate to Edom?
The
dukes of Edom (Edom was another name for Esau, Jacob's brother) were
11 in number. Although closely related to the house of Israel, a
bitter hatred existed between the two peoples. The dukes, or chiefs,
of Edom were Timnah, Alvah, Jetheth, Aholibamah, Elah, Pinon, Kenaz,
Teman, Mibzar, Magdiel, and Iram (Genesis 36:40 - 43).
And
on this day of November 11, we had the Prophetic Gaza War to break
out in Israel.
The
Meaning of Numbers: The Number 24
The
number 24 is associated with the priesthood. Since it is composed of
a multiple of 12, it takes on some of 12's meaning (which is God's
power and authority, as well as perfect foundation) except in a
higher form. Twenty-four, therefore, is also connected with the
worship of God, especially at the temple.
Gaza
Called
also Azzah, which is its Hebrew name (Deu_2:23; 1Ki_4:24; Jer_25:20)
strong, fortified city on the Mediterranean shore.
A
city of the Philistine Pentapolis. It is referred to in Genesis
(Gen_10:19) as a border city of the Canaanites, and in Jos_10:41 as a
limit of the South country conquered by Joshua; a refuge of the
Anakim (Jos_11:22; giants).
It
was assigned to the tribe of Judah, Jos_15:47, and that tribe did
obtain possession of it, Jdg_1:18, but did not hold it long, Jdg_3:3;
Jdg_13:1, and apparently, it continued through the time of Samuel,
Saul and David to be a Philistine city. 1Sa_6:17; 1Sa_14:52;
1Sa_31:1; 2Sa_21:15.
Samson
was here shut in by the Philistines, and escaped by carrying away the
gates (Jdg_16:1-3); he was, however; brought back here in captivity
after being betrayed by Delilah, and here he destroyed himself and
the Philistines by pulling down the temple (Jdg_16:21-30) of Dagon,
and slew “all the lords of the Philistines,” himself also
perishing in the ruin.
Gaza
was never for long in Israelite hands. It withstood Alexander for
five months (B.C. 332). In B.C. 96 it was razed to the ground, and in
B.C. 57 rebuilt on a new site, the previous site being distinguished
as ‘Old’ or ‘Desert’ Gaza (cf. Act_8:26). It was successively
in Greek, Byzantine Christian (A.D. 402), Muslim (635), and Crusader
hands; it was finally lost by the Franks in 1244. A Crusaders’
church remains in the town, now a mosque. It is now a city of about
16,000 inhabitants, and bears the name Ghuzzeh.
In
the conquest of Joshua, the territory of Gaza is mentioned as one
which he was not able to subdue. Jos_10:41; Jos_11:22; Jos_13:3. It
was assigned to the tribe of Judah, Jos_15:47, and that tribe did
obtain possession of it, Jdg_1:18, but did not hold it long, Jdg_3:3;
Jdg_13:1, and apparently, it continued through the time of Samuel,
Saul and David to be a Philistine city. 1Sa_6:17; 1Sa_14:52;

Solomon
became master of "Azzah," 1Ki_4:24, but, in after times,
the same trouble with the Philistines recurred. 2Ch_21:16; 2Ch_26:6;
2Ch_28:18.
The
Prophecies on Gaza
The
prophets denounce the judgments of God against it (Jer_25:20;
Jer_47:5; Amo_1:6, Amo_1:7; Zep_2:4).
Gaza
is the most southwesterly town toward Egypt, and lay on the great
route between Syria and that country, being in position and strength
(as its name means) the key of the line of communication.
On
November 12, Israel took out the communications network in Gaza. Nov
12: Sept 23rd, 2017 +365 days = Sept 23rd, 2018 + 50 days = Nov 12,
2018. This became one of my watch dates for an event to happen.
Hezekiah
gave the decisive blow to the Philistines, "even unto Gaza and
the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced
city" (2Ki_18:8).
Amos
(Amo_1:6) threatened from God. "for three transgressions of Gaza
and for four (i.e. for sin multiplied on sin, Exo_20:5; Pro_30:15.
Three and four make seven, the number implying completion of the
measure of guilt) I will not turn away the punishment thereof,
because they carried away captive the whole captivity (i.e. they
carried all away and left none; see 2Ch_21:17; 2Ch_28:18) to deliver
them up to Edom (the Philistines of Gaza, instead of hospitably
sheltering the Jewish refugees fleeing before Sennacherib and other
Assyrian, invaders, sold them as captives to their bitter foes, the
Edomites; compare Isa_16:4). But I will send a fire on the wall of
Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof."
PHILISTINES.—The
inhabitants of the Maritime Plain of Palestine (cf. art. Palestine,
1) from the period of the Judges onward to the 6th cent. or later.
They are said to have come from Caphtor (Amo_9:7, Jer_47:4,
Deu_2:23).
The
Philistines are your basic wonderers, foreigners, or nomads who do
not have a nation. They steal their lands from other and claim it as
their own.
The
Philistines first make their appearance in Biblical history late in
the period of the Judges, when Samson, of the tribe of Dan, is said
to have waged his curious single-handed combats with them
(Jdg_13:1-25; Jdg_14:1-20; Jdg_15:1-20; Jdg_16:1-31). These conflicts
were the natural result of the impact of the Philistines upon
Israel’s western border. The reference to the Philistines in
Jdg_3:31 is a later insertion (cf. Israel, §I. 11). During the time
of Eli these invaders were trying to make their way into the central
ridge of Palestine, and in one of the battles captured the ark of
Jahweh, which a pestilence (probably bubonic plague) induced them to
return (1Sa_4:1-22; 1Sa_5:1-12; 1Sa_6:1-21).
Abraham
and Isaac tried to fix ham by making a covenant with the King of the
Philistines who was Abimelech, Ham's descendants. But the
Palestinians kept breaking the covenant first with Jushua, then Saul,
David and then the Assyrians and up until today.
Peace
and War can occur against a nation who has had a patriarch but the
Palestinians/Philistines have had no patriarch so they have no nation
so it is impossible for peace to war to occur from them.
Palestinians
The
name ‘Palestine’ [AV in Joe_3:4; in Exo_15:14, Isa_14:29;
Isa_14:31 Peteralestina; RV Philistia], being derived from that of
the Philistines.
There
is no ancient geographical term covering the whole region now known
as Palestine: the different provinces—Canaan, Judah, Israel, Moab,
Edom, etc.—are enumerated separately when necessary. The extension
of the word to include the entire Holy Land, both west and east of
the Jordan, is subsequent to the introduction of Christianity.
The
Palestinians have their spiritual roots from the Philistines.
Palestinian hatred for Israel is so great that it is clearly an
ancient conflict and not just one from the last few decades but all
the way back to Samson. As Samson burned the fields of the
Philistines, the the Palestinians decided to burn the fields of
Israel for retaliation. What goes around, comes around.
Each spring countless red anemones turn the landscape of southern Israel into a beautiful sea of red-waving flowers. The phenomenon is called “Darom Adom – Red South”. Far too many of the nature reserves in southern Israel have fallen victim to the fire-kite terrorism that has originated from Gaza this year of 2018/5778. Not to mention the numerous late spring harvests that have been destroyed affecting the livelihood of many of the kibbutz members in the Western Negev.

there is a play on like sounds; Gazah gazuwbah, "Gaza shall be
forsaken." In Zec_9:5 "the king shall perish from Gaza,"
i.e., its Persian satrap, or petty "king," subordinate to
the great king of Persia, shall perish, and it shall cease to have
one. Alexander having taken the city, and slain 10,000 of its
inhabitants, and sold the rest as slaves, bound Betis the satrap to a
chariot by thongs thrust through his soles, and dragged him round the
city, as Achilles did to Hector.
