 “Seventy weeks are decreed upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sin, and to forgive iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal vision and prophet, and to anoint the most holy place.” Daniel 9:24

An obscure 300-year old interpretation of the Book of Daniel presents a precise calculation which indicates the prophet spoke of this year as bringing the end of days. One rabbi agrees, believing that Daniel’s ancient, hidden secrets are being revealed now as never before.

Certainly one of the most prominent sources for prophecies concerning the end of days, Daniel’s prophecy of 70 weeks clearly refers to the end of times, but it is enigmatic and difficult to understand.

One explanation was recently offered by a blogger known as Yeranen Yaakov, who refers to an esoteric source called Bet Aked Hagudot, written by 17th century Rabbi Meir Halevi Horowitz. Rabbi Horowitz collected teachings about the end of days and formulated a theory about the Book of Daniel.

And I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he lifted up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and swore by Him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and a half; and when they have made an end of breaking in pieces the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished. Daniel 12:7

Rabbi Horowitz interpreted a ‘time’ as 700 years. He based this on three reasons:

1) It corresponds to the number of years that Israel angered God from the time Joshua brought the Israelites into the land, which, according to Rabbi Horowitz, totalled 700 years.

2) According to the Talmud, non-Jews were given 1000 years to subjugate the Jews. Rabbi Horowitz subtracted the 300 years of exile in Babylonia, Greece, and Persia from the total that Israel should have suffered.

3) Rabbi Horowitz also interpreted the seventy weeks described in the Book of Daniel as a total of 50 cycles of double shmittah (sabbatical) cycles. One cycle is seven years. A double sabbatical is 14 years. 50 cycles of 14 years equals 700 years.

Yeranen Yaakov then did a calculation based on the phrase from Daniel, “time, times, and a half”, adding “time” (moed), meaning one, “times” (moadim), meaning two, and then “a half” of one. This is a total of 3.5 times. Rabbi Horowitz calculated this as meaning 700 multiplied by 3.5, or 2450.

Yernanen Yaakov calculated the beginning of the exile from the first stage of the Babylonian Exile, which began in the Hebrew year 3327 (434 BCE). He added 2,450, the result of his calculations for “time, times, and a half” from the Book of Daniel, and arrived at the result that the Hebrew year in which the Messiah should arrive is 5777 – the current year.

Yeranen Yaakov goes on to bring another verse which refers to the Babylonian Exile using the expression moadim (times), similar to the Book of Daniel. The prophecy in Jeremiah contains a hint that this year, 5777, will be the final year before Messiah. It describes a prophetic vision that after the exile, there will be a return to the Land of Israel.

Hashem showed me, and behold two baskets of figs set before the temple of Hashem; after that Nevuchadretzar king of Bavel had carried away captive Yechonyah the son of Yehoyakim, king of Yehudah, and the princes of Yehudah, with the craftsmen and smiths, from Yerushalayim, and had brought them to Bavel. Jeremiah 24:1

The gematria (numerology) in Hebrew, of the words of the verse, beginning with the words “before the Temple”, equals 5777.

Biblical scholars have struggled with the Book of Daniel for thousands of years, so what makes these interpretations any different? Rabbi Yosef Berger, rabbi of the Tomb of King David on Mount Zion, explained why ancient prophecies like Daniel are being studied with new understanding today.

“What Daniel wrote about the End of Days, our greatest sages have been trying to understand for generations. But the real meanings were intentionally hidden. Daniel himself said that these things will remain hidden until the end,” he told Breaking Israel News.

And he said: ‘Go thy way, Daniel; for the words are shut up and sealed till the time of the end.’ Daniel 12:9

Rabbi Berger noted that Rabbi Moses Ben Maimon, the preeminent medieval Sephardic Torah authority known by the acronym Rambam, forbade attempts to figure an exact date for the arrival of the Messiah. But Rabbi Berger believes that this does not apply to our times.

“It is written in the Zohar (the foundational source for Jewish mysticism) that in the days preceding the Messiah, all secrets will be revealed, and even small children will be able to explain prophecies and the most obscure sources,” Rabbi Berger concluded. “Now, in our day, everything is being opened up. We are discovering these sources that hint at the Messiah that have existed for generations, and only now can we interpret them properly. This is a clear sign that they are now being intentionally revealed.”

Here is a example in my book The Last Chronicles of Planet Earth which I sent to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of how exact God is in His timing to fulfill prophecy and, in this way he has demonstrated that his words can be trusted. God gave us dates of events that would happen in the future. The following two examples were given to us over 2,500 years ago. In the Ezekiel 4:4-8, the Lord told Ezekiel to lie on his left side for 390 days for the sins of Israel. God told Ezekiel that each day that he laid on his side would equal one year. So, the 390 days equaled 390 years. Then the Lord told him to lie on his right side for 40 days for the sins of Judah, and again each day would equal one year. In all, Ezekiel had to lie combined on his left and right sides for a total of 430 days, which again meant 430 years. In Luke 21:20, Jesus talks about Israel’s desolation, and in verse 24, he talks about a time when Israel would be led into captivity. Stay with me; you will see how Ezekiel and Luke fit together. There were 430 years of captivity appointed for Israel due to her sins against God. We know that 70 of those years were fulfilled by the captivity in Babylon so that leaves us with 360 years left. Now read Leviticus 26:18, 24, 28. What you will learn is that God is telling Israel that if Israel doesn’t listen to God the first time, He will multiply it by 7 times. In other words, God would take the 360 years and multiply that by 7 times if they failed to heed His words. Israel did fail to heed His words. Therefore, take 360 years and multiply that by 7 times to arrive at 2,500 years. Now think about the first siege in Jerusalem in 606 B.C. Now go back 2,500 years from 606 B.C., and you end up in the middle of the 1900's. Remember Israel had a 360-day calendar year. So, we have to convert her year into our solar year calendar that is based on the 365.2 days. Once you do that, it converts to 907,326 days. Now if you were to multiply Israel’s punishment as stated in Leviticus chapter 26, you would come to 2,484 years, 2 months, and 3 days. By now you’re asking, “What is the big deal about all this?” There are two things of great importance to fulfillment of prophecy you need to see. First, the desolation took place, in part, in 606 B.C. when Nebuchadnezzar laid siege on Jerusalem. After 70 years of captivity, that puts us to the year 536 B.C. In the year 536 B.C., Israel’s first 70 years in captivity would have been finished, but remember Israel didn't listen to God the first time, and God multiplied her punishment 7 times. So, come back 2,484 years, 2 months, and 3 days to arrive at around the second week in May 1948. What happened in the second week in May 1948? For the first time since Israel was led away into captivity, Israel became a nation again for the second time. That date was May 14, 1948. Our Lord gave us the exact time that this would take place. Only a true God could have done this.  1948+70 years (Psalm 90:10) =2018 (Psalm 118) for Armageddon.

The second example how God fulfilled prophecy is just as amazing. In Jeremiah 25:11-12a it says, "‘this whole country will become a desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years. But when the seventy years are fulfilled, I will punish the king of Babylon and his nation, the land of the Babylonians, for their guilt,’ declares the Lord." This prophecy has to do with the servitude of the nation Israel. We know for sure in 587 B.C. was the desolation of Jerusalem. This is the year the city was leveled, and that was the end of it. It was at this time the nation Israel was hauled off to begin her servitude of the nations. We know for sure that in 587 B.C. Nebuchadnezzar leveled the temple 252 in Israel. As I stated before, Israel already had finished 70 years before, but they didn't get it the first time. So, take 587 B.C., 70 years from 587 B.C. brings us to the year 517 B.C. Now if you count 2,484 years, 2 months, and 3 days from 517 B.C. using once again our solar calendar year, you arrive at the second week in June 1967. What happened in Israel in the second week of June 1967? For the first time in over 2,000 years, Israel took back the holy city of Jerusalem during the six-day war. This was again another major prophecy which was fulfilled exactly in the time span that God had laid out. When the Christians saw these two major prophecies came to pass, they knew our time here on earth was drawing to a close. Even the Jewish people realized the two prophecies fulfilled meant their Savior would come soon. Lets keep it simple; There are 70 Shavuots in 70 years, with the "first Shavuot" falling in the third month Sivan of the "first year" that began on 1 Nisan 1948. The "70th" Shavuot falls in the third month of the "70th" year that begins on 1 Nisan 2017 with all things coming to end on 29 Adar 2018.

Lest we forget, all things should of come to an end on 29 Adar 2000, however Hezekiah HAD NOT continued the line of the "seed of Jesse" so G-d gave the prophet Isaiah "two signs" totaling 18 years to give to King Hezekiah.

This coming weekend marks the start of an upcoming new cycle of occultations of Regulus by the Moon. These run right through 2018, as the Moon visits the bright star Regulus five days after crossing the Hyades and occulting Aldebaran for every lunation pass in 2017.
    An occultation is when the moon passes in front of a star or planet.
    Regulus is known as the King Star in Biblical terms and is found in Leo the Lion of the Tribe of Judah.
    So, why is God covering over Regulus in 2017?  On September 23rd is the line-up of three planets in Leo on the Day of Trumpet. Will this be one of those times tht the Moon occults Regulus?

Best viewing will be from a dark location after midnight. Meteors will radiate from the constellation Gemini, but can appear anywhere in the sky.

This moon has also been known as the Full Long Nights Moon and the Moon Before Yule. This is also the last of three supermoons for 2016. The Moon will be at its closest approach to the Earth and may look slightly larger and brighter than usual.
